Former Governor of Ogun, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has described the late Towulade of Akinale, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, as an embodiment of royalty and professionalism.

He said the monarch had an unwavering commitment and passion towards the development of Akinale, Owu Kingdom, Egbaland, and Ogun, saying his successful career as a journalist and Public Relations was undoubtedly a testament to his successful reign.

As the 1st Towulade of Akinale, who was crowned in 2006, Oba Ogunleye played significant roles in influencing many positive developments that have taken place in the community.

Also, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, paid glowing tribute to the late royal father.

Union in a statement by its Chairman, Comrade ‘Wale Olanrewaju, and Secretary, Comrade Bunmi Adigun, the Union described Oba Ogunleye’s demise as a shocking and devastating loss, stressing that despite his advanced age, his sudden passage remains a significant loss as his wisdom and expertise had been a source of inspiration to the executive and the Council.

The union stated that Oba Ogunleye played a significant role in quenching the political turbulence that ravaged the Council for over four years, harnessing his statesmanlike wisdom, professional acumen, and diplomatic finesse to resolve conflicts, reconcile factions and steady the ship, and, in company of other progressives, ensured successful conduct of elections to usher in new leaders, setting the Council on a path of growth and progress.

Similarly, the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ogun State Chapter, said the passage of Oba Ogunleye, has robbed the Chapter of one of its finest and accomplished members.

The NIPR in a statement signed by its chairman, Oluwaseun Boye, and Secretary, Kunle Olayeni respectively, said Oba Ogunleye was a charismatic leader.

The statement reads, “Until he departed, Kabiyesi was a Fellow of the NIPR. He was an iconic figure and veteran public relations professional who rose to prominence as Public Relations Manager of Nigeria Airways. He made significant and indelible contributions right from his career days to when he ascended the throne of his forebears and, even, up to the point that he eventually breathed his last.

“Oba Olufemi Ogunleye was a charismatic leader who served his people with absolute commitment, impressive dignity, and exemplary leadership. He was a strong pillar of support for Ogun NIPR, who demonstrated unparalleled enthusiasm towards all activities and invested his time and resources to positively project Public Relations practice.”
