Members of the Tricycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (TORAN), Ogun State chapter, have called on well-meaning Nigerians to emulate former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who was seen riding a tricycle, known as keke, in Abeokuta on Saturday.

The riders commended Obasanjo for distributing 85 tricycles to empower young people across the nation.

The State Executive of the union appreciated Obasanjo for what they called his coordinated action, including the symbolic public riding of the tricycle in the state capital.

The Executive Chairman of TORAN in Ogun, Prince Abdulwasi Agunbiade, said in a statement that the octogenarian’s action was “geared towards changing the ill narrative that Keke riders are social liabilities.”

Agunbiade spoke further that, “We as a Union felt elated reading about our father’s action at a time when we have set out to re-orientate the populace on the safety of riding in Keke-Maruwa which is now being handled by members of our union, who are well cultured on road safety practices.

“Well-meaning Nigerians should emulate the former President towards encouraging youth to embrace small scale businesses which would result in self-sustainability in the society.” Continue Reading
