Nationnewslead correspondent, David John reports that Mrs Rita, one of the ladies who suffered physical and emotional trauma during her encounter with men of the Nigerian Police Force, Cross River State on Friday narrated her misfortune to the Cross River State judicial panel of enquiry and restitution for victims of special Anti Robbery Square (SARS)
Mrs Rita who is a civil servant residing in Bayelsa State petitioned the Nigerian Police in Cross River State led by its lawyer and the N.B.A chairman of Cross River State, Dr. Paul Ebiala Esq,
She testified to the judicial panel during her cross examinations by the legal team of the police department in Cross River State, on how she was maltreated and detained by men of the police forces Cross River State over tenancy related matter in which she knows nothing about.
However the counsel to the Nigerian Police Force intercepted her testimony over inaccurate date of such occurrences, the judicial panelist ruled over technicality to frustrate the aim of justice by the legal team of the Police Force, Cross River State.
Mrs Rita further testified to the judicial panel that her 6 months old pregnancy was lost while in police cell in Cross River State during her illegal arrest and held hostage for weeks by the police force in calabar.
She further demanded for a remedy’s of over 200 million naira for the physical and emotional trauma, pains, disgraced, lost and damages suffered as she as well claimed that no amounts could well bring back her child to life again.
