Nigerian actress and filmmaker, Eniola Ajao opened up about her latest projects, including the highly anticipated film ‘Owanbe Thieves’, set to hit cinemas nationwide on April 18th.

She disclosed  that her previous film, “Ajakaju: The Beast of Two Worlds,” was a massive success, grossing over N250 million at the box office.

Speaking to Friday Treat, she said, “The film’s success was a surprise even to me. Honestly, I didn’t see it coming because this is my first time at the cinemas.

“I didn’t know if ‘Ajakaju’ was going to do that much. I was scared at a point, and I was trying to create a buzz around the film.”

According to her, the success of “Ajakaju” has inspired her to give back to her fans and community.

The filmmaker on Sunday  empowered 25 people with work tools, including sewing machines, hair dryers, ring lights, and makeup chairs.

“I just want to thank God for the success of ‘Ajakaju’. The fact that people went all out, took money out of their pockets to watch the film, made me want to give back in my own little way.”

Now, Ajao is gearing up for the release of ‘Owanbe Thieves’, a new film that promises to be just as exciting as “Ajakaju’.

When asked about her projections for the film, Ajao humbly deferred to God. “I leave that to God. Honestly, I leave that to God. There’s nothing God can’t.”

Ajao’s passion for filmmaking is evident in everything she does. She encouraged Nigerians to continue supporting the film industry, despite the challenges posed by the economy.

“We need to push, we need to do all we can do, you know, to put an effort for everybody.”

As for whether she still makes home videos, Ajao assured fans that she has not abandoned her roots.

“Yes, I do. YouTube is our home. We cannot neglect YouTube. This is like a once in a year kind of project. But we have our audience too on YouTube, to keep us going.”

With “Owanbe Thieves” set to hit cinemas on April 18th, l know my fans are eagerly anticipating my next move.”
