The Ogun State Chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has said its former Chairman, Mr Oginni Olaposi Sunday remained expelled from the party.
The party, also, maintained that the party’s Presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso remains one of the major pillars of the party.
The party in a statement signed by the State Public Relations Officer, Omokehinde Olowu on Friday, said the party was shocked to see a recent letter being displayed on social media purportedly written by its former Chairman, Mr Oginni Olaposi Sunday, presenting himself as Chairman of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Ogun State Chapter and Chairman of all State Chairmen of NNPP.
Recall that a Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital had recently dismissed Oginn’s suit challenging the authority of the national leadership of the party for expelling him from the party.
Delivering the judgment on the suit No: FHC/AB/CS/21/2023, where Olaposi Oginni was the plaintiff while NNPP is the 1st defendant, NWC of the NNPP is the 2nd defendant and the INEC was the 3rd defendant, Hon. Justice Adefunmilola Demi-Ajayi, said the originating summon is found to be lacking in merit, the objection of the Defendants/ Applicant is found to be meritorious and is therefore upheld, the originating summons is therefore dismissed.
The party warned the unsuspecting general public and media houses that Oginni has been expelled by the national leadership of the party and that his expulsion was given the required public awareness.
The party in the statement wondered how an expelled Chairman who challenged his expulsion in court and lost still claims to be a member of NNPP not to talk of being Chairman of the Ogun State chapter.
This according to the party is a contempt of court, which the law will take its course in due time.
“He felt dissatisfied with his expulsion and challenged the decision of the Party in court and lost woefully.
“We want to reiterate categorically that Oginni Olaposi Sunday has ceased to be a member of NNPP, and by extension that of the Ogun State chapter.
“He cannot in any way stand, speak or do anything in his former capacity as the Ogun State Chairman or speaks on behalf of the party in Ogun State.
“We want to use this avenue also to caution some media houses to be wary of Oginni’s antics and stay away from giving him undue publicity, and stay away from disseminating unverified information on his behalf.
“We want to use this medium to dissociate ourselves from his act of mischief and that of his cohorts and we want to state categorically that our national leader, His Excellency, Senator, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso remains the pillar of the party in Nigeria and we will resist by all means any attempt by some individuals to malign his image,” the statement noted.
