A former presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr. Nwachukwu Anakwenze, on Wednesday called on the elders of the party to find an urgent solution to the internal crisis rocking the party.
Nationnewslead reported that crisis had engulfed the PDP since its presidential pandidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, picked Governor Ifeanyi Okonwa of Delta State, against his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike, who had scored the second highest number of delegates’ votes at the presidential primary.
Anakwenze, a United States-based Surgeon in a statement by his Spokesperson and Director-General of his campaign organisation, Eric Oluwole, commended the PDP Board of Trustees for the progress recorded so far to reconcile Atiku, Wike and other aggrieved members.
He also advised the PDP National Working Committee not to relent in its ongoing efforts to unite the party into one stronger family that can win elections.
According to him, up till now, no meeting had been called among the PDP presidential aspirants since the primaries.
He told the party leaders that there was need to call for a meeting among all the presidential aspirants who contested with Atiku Abubakar for the party’s ticket in order to assist the party with their structures across the country and also to have a sense of belonging.
Anakwenze said, “For instance, I have stopped some party members who have reached me and persuaded me to leave the party, which is the salvation that our country Nigeria needs now. Please, PDP stakeholders must ensure that they put an end to the PDP internal crisis.”
Specifically, he called on the party’s BoT to reconcile all those who are aggrieved within the party and reposition it into a formidable force so that the PDP would go into the 2023 elections as a united house to record an overwhelming victory.
This, he said, would enable the PDP to form the next Federal Government and implement its well designed and well packaged people oriented programmes meant to “salvage Nigeria from the precipice towards which she is being led by the maladministration of the ruling party at the federal level.”
Anakwenze said that a united PDP was needed especially now in the overall interest of the party and our Nigeria “which is in dire need of a rescue operation from the worsening chaos and confusion, characterised by unprecendeted insecurity; falling Naira with its attendant ugly consequences on the economy; crashing education system aggravated by endless strike by University teachers and other staff over poor funding; among other -presidential aspirant seeks urgent end to PDP crisis
