Registrar of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Mr. Adetunji Oni has given an explicit insight and analysis on Management functions and organizational integrity in Management Systems.
The awe inspiring paper was presented to orientate and sensitize the non teaching senior staff of the Polytechnic on administrative ethics at 450 capacity hall of the Polytechnic Main Campus.
Speaking on Management function, the Registrar described Management as a social process involving responsibility for economical and effective planning, regulation of operation of an enterprise in the fulfillment of given purpose, adding that it is a dynamic process consisting of various elements and activities.
In an explicit explanation, he noted that Management functions include planning, organizing, staffing, directing and controlling.
He expatiates on planning as basic management function that deals with chalking out a future course of action and deciding in advance on the most appropriate action to achieve a desired goal while organizing involves bringing together physical, financial and human resources and developing a productive relationship amongst them to achieve a desired goal.
The Registrar asserts that the main purpose of staffing is to put right man on the job which he further described as putting square pegs in square holes and round pegs in the round holes.
An inference was drawn from the leadership traits of the Rector, Dr. Lateef Olatunji as a perfect paradigm of leadership with good managerial skills.
He however admonished administrative staff to always deploy good administrative ethics discussed to actualize the institutional goals and objectives.
The presentation was part of the training workshop packaged by the Research Development and Innovations Center of the Polytechnic headed by Dr. Grace Korter to develop staff. The maiden presentation was delivered weeks earlier by Mr. Segun Oyesola ,Deputy Registrar (JSE).
Present at the program were Principal Officers, Management staff and senior non-teaching staff.
The Bursar, Mr. Azeez Amidu is scheduled to serve as resource person for the third series.
