A group known as ‘The Kalthum Foundation for Peace’ has unequivocally condemned the tragic killings of Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) medical staff in Gaza.

The group in a press statement made available to journalists in Maiduguri, on Monday, Ummu-Kalthum Muhammad Rabiu, CEO, the Kalthum Foundation for Peace said, “This appalling act not only undermines the sanctity of medical personnel dedicated to saving lives but also exacerbates the already dire humanitarian crisis in the region.”

The Foundation, therefore, called for an immediate ceasefire and an unequivocal cessation of hostilities to protect civilians and preserve the integrity of humanitarian efforts.

It stresses that “We urge all parties involved to prioritise dialogue and diplomacy over violence, reinforcing the necessity of safeguarding healthcare workers who operate under the principles of neutrality and impartiality in conflict zones.

“Only through concerted efforts towards peace can we hope to restore stability and ensure the fundamental right to life for all individuals in Gaza.”

The KFP also urged the international community, particularly the United States, to take a proactive role in facilitating a ceasefire and establishing a sustainable resolution to the enduring Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Recognising the urgent need for a halt to hostilities, KFP emphasised that diplomatic intervention is essential to prevent further loss of life and to foster an environment conducive to dialogue.

It stressed that the United States, with its significant influence and longstanding relationships in the region, is uniquely positioned to mediate discussions that address the core issues at the heart of the conflict.

KFP opined that a collaborative effort aimed at achieving peace would not only benefit the immediate parties involved but also contribute to broader regional stability and security.

KFP then extended its heartfelt condolences to Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) in light of the tragic loss of their dedicated staff members stressing that the commitment of MSF to providing free, high-quality medical care in Gaza and its surrounding areas is commendable and crucial, particularly during these challenging times.

It added that, “We encourage MSF to remain steadfast in its mission, as the need for humanitarian support and medical assistance in the region is more pressing than ever. The resilience and bravery demonstrated by MSF’s team in the face of adversity serve as an inspiration to all those who value the sanctity of human life and the importance of accessible healthcare.
