A devastating road traffic crash occurred on Monday in Agaie Local Government Area of Niger, resulting in the loss of four lives and injuring 13 others.
The accident, which involved a head-on collision of three trailer trucks, also claimed the lives of 15 cattle and over 20 goats.
According to the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), the immediate cause of the crash was attributed to wrong overtaking.
The agency’s Director General, Hon. Abdullahi Baba Arah, described the incident as unfortunate and confirmed that two persons died on the spot, while two others were confirmed dead by medical personnel at the hospital.
The injured persons were rushed to Agaie General Hospital for medical treatment, where they are currently receiving care. NSEMA’s Desk Officer in Agaie Local Government Area, along with some volunteers, were involved in the rescue operations.
