Nationnewslead reports that The Federal Polytechnic Offa in affiliation with Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State has matriculated second set of B.Tech and B.Eng students on Wednesday, 2nd of December 2020.
The Students who signed matriculation oath as bonafide students of their parent University pledged to be of good conduct and respect the laws and regulations guiding their studentship of Federal University of Technology Minna and that of the Federal Polytechnic Offa accordingly.
The Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology, Minna, Prof. Abdulahi Bala represented by Prof Segun Oyero congratulated the matriculating students for the, opportunity of gaining admission to the Prestigious University of Technology, Minna. He further charged them to be focus and avoid the company of people of questionable character.
According to him, “I want to congratulate you on your admission and implore you to use your time wisely and be compliant with your matriculation oath. Do not involve yourself in any kind of examination misconduct or acts that constitute a threat or harassment to yourself, your fellow students or staff within your host institution. More importantly, avoid people of mischievous and shady character that can hinder your academic activities on campus or terminate your studentship ”
He further assured students of adequate security and atmosphere conducive for learning coupled with core of qualified, competent and committed staff.
The Rector of The Federal Polytechnic Offa, Dr. Lateef Olatunji in his goodwill message acknowledged the presence of the Management from the Federal University of Technology, Minna and commended the collaborations between the Managements of the two institutions on Affiliation Degree programmes.
He said: “The journey of this Affiliation Degree Programmes with Federal University of Technology, Minna started on Thursday, 12th October 2017 when a Memorandum of Understanding to this effect was signed between the FUT Minna and The Federal Polytechnic Offa.”
Dr. Olatunji however charged matriculating students to always remember that the distance between matriculation and convocation is not quite wide and it is important for them to end the journey successfully.
Speaking further, the Rector added that the Polytechnic possesses both human and material resources that will help the students to develop and sharpen their desired dreams. He therefore advised students to shun deviant behaviours and other social vices that can expose them to danger as the Polytechnic has zero tolerance for cultism and any form of hooliganism.
While the Director of Affiliate Degree Programmes, Dr. Kadri enjoined matriculating students to be law abiding and always channel their grievances to the Directorate and should not on any condition take law into their hands. He added that all grievances will be speedily attended to with all the urgency that may be required with the support of the Management led by Dr. Olatunji.
The Registrar, Mr. Adetunji Oni who was represented by Deputy Registrar, Academic Affairs, Mrs Ronke Adesina congratulated the matriculating students and appreciated the Management Staff from the University of Technology Minna for finding time out of their tight schedule to attend the programme. She further congratulated parents and guidance, and appreciated Deans/ Directors and HODs for their prompt attendance and patience.
