The Aareonakakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams, has mourned the victims of the stampede at a funfair event organized for children in the Basorun area of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, expressing profound sadness over the tragic incident.
It is recalled that the Oyo State Police Command confirmed at least 35 deaths in a stampede that occurred at the Islamic High School, Basorun, Ibadan, the venue of the family event organized by Wings Foundation, owned by a former queen, Naomi Silekunola.

In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Mr. Kehinde Aderemi, Iba Adams expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing how the innocent children left their homes excited to enjoy a holiday funfair, only to be tragically trampled to death. He prayed for divine comfort for the victims’ families.
“I am deeply saddened to hear the story of how these innocent children, who left their homes with the excitement of enjoying a holiday funfair in Ibadan, were trampled to death,” Iba Adams said.
The Yoruba generalissimo expressed solidarity with the families of the victims and prayed for peace for the souls of the departed.
