A pilgrim from Jigawa State attending the just-concluded 2024 Hajj on Wednesday night returned a purse he found at the Masjid Nabawi (Prophet’s Mosque) in Madina.
The purse contained $800, approximately N1,185,000. This commendable act was reported by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) in Makkah.
The pilgrim, Abba Saadu Limawa, from Limawa village of Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State, returned the purse that also contained 690 Saudi Riyal and some Russian currency to NAHCON Chairman/CEO, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, at the 2024 post-Arafat meeting organized by the Commission in Makkah.

According to the Director-General of Jigawa State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Ahmad Umar Labo, Limawa displayed the purse at the mosque for about two days while in Madina before the Hajj but no one claimed its ownership.
This, Labo said, made the pilgrim contact him (DG) and he in turn notified NAHCON of the development, culminating in the presentation at the post Arafat meeting.
