The Kano State Pubic Complain and Anti-Corruption Commission, has disclosed how missing government fund from Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO) amounting to over N4 billion was siphoned, adding that it has commenced investigation of and confiscation of some cars, heavy duty vehicles and tractors.

This was just as the anti-graft agency succeeded in blocking the sum of N80 million from the grant sent to Kano Agricultural Supply Company in 2022.

The Commission Chairman, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, disclosed this over the weekend when he led an investigation team to the warehouses where cars, heavy duty vehicles and tractors alleged to have been bought with the siphoned money were kept, in Kumbotso local government area of the state.

He hinted that “We have arrested eight suspects and are revealing credible information to the commission, one of them said he was given a certain amount to make false submission at KASCO, but kept the money aside waiting for a moment like this and has returned the money”.

According to him,”the funds were mischievously transferred from Kano Agricultural Supply Company to an association registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) named Association of Compassionate Friends.

“Association was meant to promote and take care of the living standard of the children of the less privileged people in the society, but unfortunately it has been turned into a machine stealing public funds,‘’

Barrister Gado further disclosed that the funds were drawn from the Kano state government as a grant to KASCO but was siphoned using a registered corporate association and a company business name of limestone.

He noted that so far “We have recovered the sum of N15 million and have succeeded in blocking about N80 million.”

Rimin Gado said the commission is not satisfied with how some transactions were made between the companies and some banks, stressing that some bank managers may be invited to clear some issues.

He added that the commission would take the matter to court as soon as possible.

The Chairman appealed to the people of the state, especially civil servants, to forward valid information that would lead to the recovery of looted government properties, assuring them of their safety and confidentiality.
