Comrade Adeshina Adewale Excel has emerged as the new President of the Human Rights Report Commission (HRRCN).

Adewale became the new president after an election held in Asaba, the Delta State capital, on Saturday.

The election had 368 accredited delegates from the 36 states in Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory.
Adewale triumphed with a total of 216 votes, while his closest contestant, Sulaimon Rabiu from Adamawa State, secured 69 votes.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Adeshina Adewale Excel expressed his gratitude to all members of the HRRCN for their support.

He emphasised the importance of unity in achieving success, noting that his candidature was made possible by a coalition of support from the South-West, South-South, and North Central regions.

He, however, appealed to the Federal Government to reconsider the proposed 10% increase in Value Added Tax (VAT), warning that it could exacerbate the already difficult living conditions for Nigerians.
He also called on the National Assembly to hold the Minister of Petroleum and the Chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) accountable for their roles in the current economic challenges.

He called for swift action from the government to address the suffering of Nigerians, warning that inaction could lead to greater unrest. He noted that Nigerians are suffering, and the government must do something urgently to alleviate the suffering.

The new HRRCN President promised to use his office to fight for human rights, ensuring that the Commission remains a strong voice for justice, fairness, and equality in Nigeria.

He reiterated his commitment to promoting transparency and holding public officials accountable for their actions.
