Reports of investigations by the Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Mining and Geosciences Society into the recent Bodija, Ibadan explosion, are billed to be submitted to the Oyo State government on Tuesday.
While the NSE will be presenting reports on the integrity tests conducted on structures around the epicentre and 500 metres from the epicentre, a team of geologists from the University of Ibadan will give an analysis of seismic measurements from the epicentre.
According to incident manager, Professor Temitope Alonge, who disclosed this to the Nigerian Tribune, the state government, upon receiving the reports, will then make informed decision on the incident.
Alonge, however, said it had received the report of the Nigeria Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) which found normal background radiation doses both at the explosion site and on the vehicles recovered from the site.
Also speaking, the incident manager disclosed that the state had continued to receive donations of items for victims aside from the financial donations being received by the Bodija Estate Residents Association.
He said the State Emergency Management Agency (OYSEMA) was amassing the donations and would begin distribution as soon as the strategy for distribution is arrived at.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Tribune, on a visit to the explosion site, observed two flags erected at the epicentre of the blast.
Flying at half mast are the Nigerian and Oyo State flags.
