The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has extended the enforcement deadline for the Nigeria Police Force’s Tinted Glass Permit (TGP) initiative to August 12, 2025.
This decision comes in response to widespread public feedback over the challenges associated with the reactivation of the digital application process.

According to a statement released on Saturday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the extension was deemed necessary to allow more time for the enhancement of the permit application system.

He said: “The extension of enforcement is also intended to give room for additional enhancements and refinements to the application process, ensuring that no member of the public is unduly disadvantaged.”
Adejobi further explained that the police are committed to simplifying both physical and contactless permit applications to minimize delays and eliminate unnecessary inconveniences.
He assured Nigerians that improvements are underway, including “enhanced verification mechanisms and streamlined procedures.”
Members of the public were also reminded to use the official platform for applying or renewing their TGP via www.possap.gov.ng and to report any form of extortion or unauthorized charges encountered during the process. Adejobi emphasised: “Citizens are encouraged to report all unauthorized or hidden charges as well as extortion in the course of application or biometric capturing to the appropriate Police authorities, including via the dedicated hotline: 09169967000.”
The extension has been widely welcomed, especially by motorists and advocacy groups, as it allows time for smoother compliance and more transparent procedures before full enforcement resumes in August.
