As Nigeria continues to face challenges of hunger, hardship, and insecurity, prominent voices in the Church are calling for more active participation of Christians in politics, stressing that it is time to bring light to the nation’s governance.

In a statement issued today, Kayode emphasized the need for the Church, as a united body of Christ, to take a stand and play a pivotal role in the transformation of Nigeria. He lamented that despite the efforts of the current leadership, the situation in the country remains dire, leaving citizens in “gross darkness.”

“The time has come for the light to shine,” Kayode urged, addressing Church leaders from all denominations. “If we keep quiet at this critical time, salvation will arise from the next generation, and our generation will be termed unprofitable.”

According to Kayode, Christian unity is powerful, and enemies of the faith fear the strength of this oneness. He called for Christians to rise and elect the righteous into political offices, noting that Ogun State has a 70% Christian population while Lagos State is home to 83% believers.

“Why can’t we come together as one to put the righteous among us into political offices?” Kayode asked, outlining a vision for the future.

As part of this effort, the Church plans to raise at least 10,000 Church leaders and 300,000 Christian voters in both Ogun and Lagos States by 2027, with the goal of electing godly leaders, including the next governors of these states.

Kayode concluded by calling on Christians to join the movement, describing it as a prophetic move inspired by the Spirit. “We can do it, and we shall do it, come 2027,” he declared.

This initiative signals a growing resolve among Christian leaders to take action in shaping the political future of Nigeria, starting with unity and a shared vision for righteous governance.

Kayode further stressed that the involvement of Christians in politics is not just a social obligation but a spiritual mandate. He noted that when righteous leaders are in authority, the people rejoice, referencing biblical principles to reinforce the call for moral leadership. “It is written, ‘When the righteous prosper, the city rejoices,’ and this is what we aim to achieve across Nigeria,” he said.

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, Kayode urged Christian leaders to begin the groundwork immediately, building a network of committed individuals who are ready to answer the call to service. He emphasized the need for voter education and mobilization, encouraging Church leaders to use their platforms to enlighten their congregations on the importance of civic responsibility. “We must not wait until the last minute; the time to prepare is now,” Kayode warned.

In addition, Kayode revealed that the Church will partner with other faith-based organizations and civil society groups to ensure a broad and inclusive movement. He stressed that the initiative is not about partisan politics but about ensuring that those with integrity, compassion, and a vision for the common good are placed in positions of leadership. “This is a movement for the betterment of all Nigerians, regardless of tribe, denomination, or political affiliation,” he concluded.
