Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State have expressed their readiness to stand by and work for the best candidate in next year’s governorship election.
Leaders including Hon Adeoye Adelakun, Maruf Olanrewaju, Larry J (Isokan), Kehinde Olamolu (Ifelodun) Folarin Fafowora (Ilesa West), Bisi Odewumi (Ife North), Mufutau Oladapo (Olorunda) and Dr Segun Adeyeni (IfeEast) spoke about the need for Osun APC to give the party’s flag to the candidate with credibility and positive antecedents.
They all spoke at the launch of the Alubarika Movement in Osogbo. The speakers charged members of the Movement to go all out to work for the victory of the party in the 2026 elections in the State. They unanimously agreed that the party needs a candidate whose presence resonates on the political scene, someone who has given so much to the party from the unit to the ward level.
Some of them who could not hide their feelings hit the nail on the head, charging the indigene of Osogbo to take the bull by the horns by supporting one of its own so that the town can reap from the support it has given to other towns in 33 years of the State.
In his remarks, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Ajibola Basiru, stressed that APC is one in the State, clarifying that choosing a candidate for the party is not a back-door affair.
He nudged members of the Alubarika Movement to start work immediately from units to the State level to ensure that APC gets rid of the directionless PDP.
“You have a job to do. We have to send the rudderless ship of the PDP away. The infrastructure drive in the State does not justify the huge allocations to the State in the last two years.”
“Take another look at it. A government that wants to develop human resources is conducting phantom interviews everywhere and leaving the qualified applicants out in the cold. Its health, educational, and agricultural policies are an elephantine failure.”
Dr Basiru who observed that APC has continued to grow from strength to strength with defections from the ranks of the PDP, emphasised that APC will win in 2026 as Osun is tired of a family affair government.
