No fewer than 600 women and youths in Jigawa are to be empowered with the skills and knowledge needed to produce high-quality kwash pap mix.
The empowerment programme was by Hajiya Amina Umar A Namadi, Wife of Jigawa State Governor who unveiled the Kwashpap Mix Production Training Programme in Dutse, the State Capital of Jigawa State.
Kwashpap, a traditional Nigerian baby food, made from cornmeal or other grains, is a nutritious food for infants and young children, providing essential carbohydrates, fiber, and other nutrients for growth and development.
The Wife of the Governor explained that the programme, designed by Hamdan Kasiran OVC and Women Assistance Foundation, is sponsored by the Jigawa State Government and approved by the Governor, Malam Umar A. Namadi.
According to her, “The initiative aims to promote economic self-reliance, contribute to the economic development and growth of Jigawa, and improve the livelihoods of women and youths.”
“The economic benefits of this program include the creation of employment opportunities, generation of income, contribution to local economic growth, and increased food security,” Amina Namadi further said.
According to her, the programme also aligns with the economic development priorities of the Jigawa State Government, particularly in the areas of agriculture, entrepreneurship, and youth development.
Amina Umar A Namadi expressed her gratitude to Hajiya Fatima Dikko Radda, Wife of the Governor of Katsina State, for chairing the occasion just as She also thanked her husband, Malam Umar A Namadi, for his unwavering support and leadership.
“I am delighted to unveil this programme, which is designed to empower women and youth in Jigawa.
“This initiative is a testament to our commitment to promoting economic self-reliance and improving the livelihoods of our people,” Amina Namadi said.
She urged the beneficiaries to take the programme seriously and to make the most of the opportunity.
“This programme is a chance for you to acquire new skills, improve your livelihood, and contribute to the economic development of Jigawa,” she said.
The Kwash pap Mix Production Training Program is expected to contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 1 (No Poverty), Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).
The programme’s beneficiaries will receive training on kwashpap mix production, entrepreneurship, and business management as well as start-up kits and equipment to enable them to establish their businesses.
The beneficiaries appreciated the Wife of the governor and state government for empowerment programmes.
