Red carpets were thrown at every nook and cranny of the ancient city of Kano on Monday as jubilation trails the declaration of Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf of the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), as the winner of the Kano State Governorship election.
To express their joyful mood, party supporters kept trooping to the residence of the former Governor of Kano State, Dr. Rabi’u Musa kwankwaso, at Miller Road, Nasarawa GRA Kano.
Aside from that, some supporters were seen by the roadside chanting solidarity songs and riding on cars and Motorcycles to show support for the newly elected Governor.
It will be recalled that Alhaji Abba was declared the Winner after defeating his closest rival and Candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna.
Declaring the Winner, the returning Officer of the Governorship Poll, Professor Ahmed Doko Ibrahim, said Yusuf of the NNPP won with 1,019,602 to beat Gawuna of APC, who Polled 890,705.
Some Kano resident, who spoke in an interview, Alhaji Ibrahim Garko, prayed to Almighty Allah for guidance and protection for the new Governor.
While Hajia Zainab Usman said that the new Governor-elect would execute friendly projects and would not disappoint the teeming masses who voted for him
