The Public Complaint and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) has intervened to address the artificial inflation of prices of essential commodities following recent hunger protests.

Chairman Muhyi Magaji met with the Singer Market Development Association (SIMDA) and Kano Bakers Association to resolve the issue. The Kano Bakers Association had threatened to stop production due to a drastic rise in flour prices, which increased from N65,000 to N80,000 after the protests.

The PCACC has obtained a court order to deal with black marketers responsible for the price hike. SIMDA and the bakers association have agreed to sell flour directly to bakers at the original price of N65,000, eliminating middlemen and black marketers.

The state government plans to establish a committee to monitor prices, and the PCACC will create a department for price control. The agency warns against exploiting the public for personal gain.
