The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano State Command has announced that it has secured 22 convictions in the month of July 2024.
This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the NDLEA Kano State Command, Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, and made available to the press on Thursday in Kano.
He said “With 22 convictions obtained in July 2024, the NDLEA Kano State Command has proclaimed a major victory in its battle against illicit drug trafficking and abuse.
He however disclosed that among those convicted is Abubakar Muazu, whose arrest was marked by a dangerous altercation that saw an NDLEA officer being stabbed by Muazu himself.
He stated that the officers held their ground and apprehended Muazu despite the obstinacy of Muazu and his group, which resulted in the discovery and recovery of various illicit substances hidden by the perpetrator.

The command will keep pursuing and prosecuting those involved in drug trafficking and related offenses as part of its ongoing commitment to upholding the rule of law.
While appreciating the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa, for his unwavering support and commitment to the cause, the state Commander, CN Abubakar Idris Ahmad issued a stern warning to drug offenders in Kano: that no amount of intimidation or violence will deter the agency’s operatives from pursuing and bringing perpetrators to justice.
“Our operatives are trained professionals who will stop at nothing to ensure that those who engage in drug-related offenses face the full weight of the law,” said CN AI Ahmad. The command urges anyone with information about drug-related activities to come forward and assist the agency in its efforts to create a safer, healthier Kano State.
