The Kwara State Police Command on Friday arrested three men suspected to be ritualists and fraudsters.
According to the Police Commissioner, Mr Paul Odama, the suspects are Mahmud Abdulraheem of Egbejila, Ilorin, a Herbalist, Abubakar Bamidele of Lagos and Odekunle Fawad also from Lagos.
He said, “While on intelligence patrol of the Metropolis, Oc CP Monitoring section and his team around General Hospital Roundabout, Ilorin, accosted the above named suspects who were already in a commercial vehicle on transit to Lagos and on body search, assorted charms and other fetish items suspected to be for ritual purposes was recovered from them.

“Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the second and third suspects came from Lagos to Ilorin to meet the first suspect who is a herbalist to do money making charms for them.
“It was also confirmed that the two suspects from Lagos are internet fraudsters popularly called Yahoo boys. They were on their way to Lagos to complete the money making ritual process before they were arrested.”
Meanwhile, two men: Adeniyi Wasiu aged 27 years and Habeeb Morufu aged 27 years were arrested for alleged possession of psychotropic drug and substances.
According to the Police Commissioner, the duo at about 1100hrs of 10/05/23 at Alao Farm area of Tanke Oke Ogun Ilorin, Kwara State, were arrested by operatives attached to the Anti-Nacotics section of the command and during investigation and search in the residence of the suspects, some substances suspected to be illicit drugs were recovered by the detectives.
The recovered psychotic drugs incluse, some weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, some sachets of Tramadol, eight bottles of codeine syrup, some sachets of ice, one sachet of Refnol, some sachets of colorado, some sachets of skunk.
“On interrogation, the suspects confessed to be the owners of the drugs and that they sell the drug to students and interested members of the public. Effort is on going to arrest others at large.
“The suspects would be transferred to NDLEA for conclusive investigation and prosecution.
Odama also paraded five suspects alleged to be members of secret cult and gang of thieves who included: Aluku Ridwan, Kabiru Fatai, Saadu Alubu and two females; Aminah Muhammed and Zainab Lawal.
He said that exhibits recovered from them at the place of their hibernation at a black spot around Gambari/Oja Gboro area and Kokewu-Kobere area, Oja Gboro a criminal hide out included a dried weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, quantity of hard drugs suspected to be ice and two knives.
“Investigation conducted revealed that the arrested suspects are members of secret cults that terrorize innocent citizens of the area and dispossessing them of other valuable properties.”
The Police Commissioner said that all the suspects would be charged to court at conclusion of investigation.
