American singer, Beyoncé Knowles, professionally known simply as Beyoncé, has extended her support to families affected by the devastating Los Angeles wildfires through a generous donation via her charity.

The singer’s BeyGood Foundation announced on Sunday that it would contribute $2.5 million to provide relief to those impacted by the disaster.

The funds will be directed to BeyGood’s L.A. Fire Relief Fund, established to support families in need amidst the destruction caused by the fires.

“Los Angeles we stand with you. The fund is earmarked to aid families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, and to churches and community centers to address the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires,” a post on the foundation’s page read

The wildfires, which erupted on 7 January due to powerful winds, have ravaged the Los Angeles area, claiming at least 24 lives and destroying thousands of properties, officials reported on Sunday. The disaster has drawn widespread attention, with several Hollywood celebrities stepping forward to offer assistance.

Beyoncé’s own family has not been spared from the tragedy. On Friday, her mother, Tina Knowles, revealed that her cherished Malibu bungalow was destroyed in the fires.

In an Instagram post, Tina shared, “This is what I was looking at on my birthday this past weekend from my tiny little bungalow on the water in Malibu! It was my favourite place, my sanctuary, my sacred Happy Place. Now it is gone!! God Bless all the brave men and women in our fire department who risked their lives in dangerous conditions.”

Expressing her sorrow, she added, “This could have been so much worse without the dedication of the disaster workers and first responders. I’m so sad for the people who lost the five family members. My deepest Prayers are with you !!!!!!

“To the people who lost their homes and belongings, I can only imagine how it feels to lose properties and everything you worked so hard and sacrificed so much to own! My heart and deep prayers go out to all of you.”
