THE Labour Party (LP) in Ogun State has tasked its members on unity so as to present a formidable force for the forthcoming local government elections in the state.
This imperative was identified during a meeting convened by the South-West leadership of the party, held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The resolutions of the meeting contained in a statement signed by Ogun state publicity secretary of the party, Mr Tokunbo Peters, particularly tasked all party stakeholders and interest groups in the party to close ranks for all the LP candidates in the LG polls to emerge victorious.
Speakers at the meeting had argued that the Labour Party had all it takes to win Ogun LG election as it was seen as the only credible alternative that can provide inspiring leadership and good governance to the people at the grassroots.
The party held that its chances were also boosted by what it described as “anti-people policies of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governments at the state and federal levels such that the people yearned for a change in leadership.
The party subsequently called on its chairmanship and councillorship aspirants to fulfill its stipulated criteria to be eligible to contest the party’s primaries.
