A chieftain of the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Fouad Oki, has called on the party leadership to grant the legislative arm independence in the wake of the Speakership crisis in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
In an open letter, Oki acknowledged that there were missteps in engaging with party leadership before removing former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, but emphasised that the decision is fait accompli.

He appealed to the party leadership to listen to reason and allow the legislature to function independently, warning that further polarization could harm the party’s internal cohesion.
Oki stressed the importance of public opinion and community support in shaping political decisions, emphasising that ignoring these sentiments could lead to political dangers that jeopardize the party’s standing and unity.
