Stanley Alieke, the former lawyer of Nigerian singer Speed Darlington, has explained why Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of the late gospel singer Osinachi, should be given a lenient sentence.
Information Nigeria had earlier reported that the husband of the late gospel singer was sentenced to death by hanging.

This follows the death of Osinachi Nwachukwu three years ago, resulting from injuries sustained in a domestic violence incident.

Reacting to the judgment, Alieke stated that the death penalty should be abolished, with life imprisonment being a more appropriate sentence for offenders.
He pointed out that the children had already lost their mother, and it would be unjust for them to also lose their father.
The lawyer emphasized that, despite his actions, he will always be the father of his children.
On his Instagram page on Monday, he wrote, “In as much as I’m a strong advocate for the guilty not to go unpunished; this singer Osinachi case should be a reason why de@th sentence should be abolished. For the sake of their kids, they already lost their mom, it will be brutal for the kids for their dad to be k!lled too. I know some of you will argue that the kids are better off as orphans than to have a kila dad, but I believe that the kids will beg to differ. The man should be sentenced to life imprisonment so the kids could visit him in jail whenever they miss him. He’s still their father, let him not d!e too.”
