The pro-chancellor of Lincoln University College, Malaysia, Professor Bibi Florina, has reiterated the university’s dedication to nurturing future leaders through global academic excellence.
Professor Florina who spoke recently at the maiden matriculation ceremony of the university, situated at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) campus, said the partnership between Lincoln University and NSUK, will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of education in Nigeria.
According to her, the budding institution on NSUK Campus had over 500 students admitted into various academic programmes approved by the Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
She noted that Lincoln University College is establishment in Nigeria was a product of the National Universities Commission’s (NUC) Transnational Education Programme (TNE), aimed at enhancing international academic collaboration.
“This partnership promises to open new opportunities for students and faculties, fostering educational growth and cross-border exchange.
“With a curriculum focusing on 70 percent practical training and 30 percent theory, Lincoln University is committed to producing not only knowledgeable graduates but also skilled, job-creating entrepreneurs,” she said.
The founder and president of the of university, Professor Amiya Bhaumik, while delivering a speech on the institution’s mission, which is to make world-class education accessible in Nigeria, announced that a total 2,400 students had been awarded an 80 percent scholarship, making it possible for many to pay tuition equivalent to those of government institutions.
He emphasised that the initiative is part of the university’s commitment to providing affordable, high-quality education.
In his remarks at the event, the vice chancellor of NSUK, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, alongside her principal officials expressed excitement at witnessing NSUK being the first Nigerian university to host an international institution on its campus.
She said: “This partnership will set a new standard for higher education in Nigeria. We are delighted to be part of this historic moment and remain committed to maintaining high academic standards for our students.
She affirmed that the success of the maiden matriculation heralds a promising future for Lincoln University College’s presence in Nigeria and for the students who will benefit from its globally recognised education.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries from international organisations, government bodies, the private sector, professional associations, as well as parents and well-wishers.
