……Labour Party Prepares To Receive 36 APC House Of Assembly Members Prospecting Defectors
The Labour Party has confirmed ongoing discussions with 36 lawmakers of the Lagos State House of Assembly who are reportedly considering defection from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to Labour Party under the leadership of Bar Julius Abure and ALh Farouk Ibrahim Umar following the crisis that erupted over the unconstitutional overthrow of the Speaker Rt Hon Mojisola Meranda by the ousted Speaker Mudashiru Obasa in a gestapo manner through a political mutiny and coup -Detat

Our correspondents reports that the lawmakers, who have reaffirmed their loyalty to Speaker Mojisola Lasbat Meranda, are said to be aggrieved by Obasa’s controversial re-entry into the Assembly complex, allegedly backed by thugs and armed security personnel.
According to reports, the legislators’ decision to explore defection was fueled by concerns over the manner in which Obasa forcefully reclaimed his office, despite a February 17 vote of confidence passed in favor of Meranda.
Speaking exclusively with our correspondent on Thursday, the National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, Dr Abayomi Arabambi, confirmed that the party has been approached by a representatives of the lawmakers from Lagos west , Lagos East and Lagos Central
Arabambi revealed that three of the lawmakers, whose identity was withheld for security reasons, reached out to him, expressing their disappointment over Obasa’s unlawful conduct and political brigandage
Speaking further, Arabambi said that the source called him and said they were shocked that Obasa, who has a pending case in court scheduled for hearing on February 28, took the law into his own hands with the help of disgruntled Old fashioned members of the Governor Advisory Council (GAC) and stormed the Lagos State House of Assembly with thugs and a detachment of police officers,”
The National Publicity Secretary further criticized the criminal silence of influential APC members on the matter, questioning why allegations of mismanagement of over N30 billion against Obasa were seemingly being ignored on the alter of politics of self interest.
“What happened to the corruption allegations against Obasa? Is this a case of sweeping them under the carpet? Who are the people afraid of Obasa exposing their secrets? If they have skeletons in their closet, they should deal with them privately instead of forcefully reinstating him,” Arabambi remarked.
In swift reaction to the deepening crisis, the Labour Party therefore called on President Bola Tinubu to declare a state of emergency in Lagos, citing threats to democracy, conduct likely to escalate breach of Peace and governance in the state.
Arabambi described the situation as “avoidable” and expressed disappointment over the silence of top APC stakeholders including Lagos State Governor and others
“We at the Labour Party are calling for the immediate declaration of a state of emergency in Lagos. We are disappointed because many APC stalwarts have refused to speak out because of their hidden gender hatred towards women and Lagos indigenous citizens
“Nigerians have now seen the reality of APC’s governance. This incident proves that they cannot be trusted ahead of the 2027 elections. Labour Party remains the only hope for the common man,” he asserted.
In 2027, the only empirical facts that’s clear to Nigerians is that the only party that can guarantee peace, stability, prosperity, infrastructural revolution, Wipe away Nigerians tears, create employment opportunities and put food on the table of Nigerians is Labour Party under the leadership of Bar Julius Abure and ALh Farouk Umar Ibrahim.
We urge the 36 members to come over to Labour Party who is poised to Present Mr Gbadebo Rhodes Vivour as our Next Gubernatorial Candidate in Lagos to take over from Mr a Babajide Sanwo-OLU and Mr Peter Obi as our party presidential who is well prepared to unseat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a free and fair elections come 2027.
