The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Dr. Paul Enenche, has urged unmarried young men and women to choose love over material things when picking a life partner.
The pastor said this during his sermon on Sunday at the Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja.
Preaching on the theme, “Living and Loving in a Loveless World,” Pastor Enenche warned single men and women against building relationships on shallow qualities, which he said cannot hold a relationship together for long.
He explained that those who marry only for looks or money may eventually become disappointed, adding that relationships based on money are likely to fall apart.
Sharing his own experience, Enenche spoke about his strong relationship with his wife, Dr. Becky Enenche, saying that their love has remained solid because it was never based on material things.
He said, “Young ladies and young men, please don’t marry for things, marry for love because things can’t sustain relationships.
“When a man sees you and all he is after is how you look saying this girl looks fine, this girl looks this or that and goes after you for that purpose, when he sees somebody he thinks looks better than you, his love and affection for you begins to crash.
“This man looks handsome or he has money, when she sees somebody that is more attractive, that’s the end. But when it is love and it and it is not tied to condition, it will last because it is durable. It goes in the long run.
“My love for my wife today has not sunk one inch from the day we agreed on this journey because it was not tied to things.
“Let’s ensure that it is not physical things that make us make lifelong decisions.”
