About 1,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State have defected to the ruling party, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

This mass defection has strengthened the NNPP as it prepares for the local government elections in the state, solidifying its foothold in Kano, a key base of Kwankwaso’s political influence.

It is worth noting that both the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, and the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, hail from the senatorial district.

The event took place in both Tofa and Ghari Local Government Areas, where the defectors officially joined the NNPP. Dr. Hashimu Suleiman Dungurawa, the state party chairman, was present to welcome the defectors.

Additionally, the event marked the flag-off of the NNPP’s chairmanship campaign ahead of the upcoming local government elections.

Notable attendees included the NNPP candidates for the elections, Yakubu Ibrahim Adis of Tofa and Hashimu Mai Sabulu of Ghari.

Both candidates expressed confidence in the NNPP’s growing strength in the region, especially with the influx of new members.
