Confusion has trailed the report of the alleged demand of N200 million ransom by kidnappers of the traditional ruler of Isiala Umudi Autonomous community in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State, Joel Udenkwo.
Vanguard gathered from the Umudi community on Tuesday that there are issues surrounding the demand for ransom even as the family members never made any official statement on the matter.
While a source had earlier claimed it was N200 million another source close to the family was of the view that as of last Monday night the abductors were demanding N50 million.
According to him, “We had they had contacted the family and requested for the ransom of N50 million. I did not hear of the N200 million. What I am telling you was the first time they said they were contacted.
“The family members have not officially said anything on the issue of ransom. You know it’s even a risk to mention the amount of money the kidnappers are demanding. But I can tell you that nobody knows how far it has gone.”
