The Osun State Police Command has said Omowumi, a woman who allegedly threw her two children into a well in the Koledowo area of Osogbo, was undergoing a psychiatric test.
Omowumi had reportedly thrown her two children, Nimisire, aged five and Darasimi aged eight, into a well near her residence on Monday.
Speaking with City Round, the command’s spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, said the suspect, after she was arrested, was handed over to doctors for a psychiatric test.
Opalola said the result of the test would determine the next line of action by the police.
She said, “The suspect is still with the police. We have taken the matter to a psychiatrist for us to be able to ascertain her mental state. People said she is of unsound mind but we have to subject her to a medical test.”
Meanwhile, the two victims had been recovered dead from the well.
A resident of the area, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told our correspondent that the victims were recovered on Thursday by two Hausa men hired by the community.
