The Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District, Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, has appealed for more security presence in some parts of his Senatorial District, saying, “My life does not matter to me now if my people are not secured.”
Disturbed by the renewed wave of banditry and kidnapping for ransom in some communities of Kauru, Kagarko, Kaura, Zangon Kataf and Kachia Local Government Areas of Kaduna State, Senator Katung made the appeal during a church service at the Fountain of Life Baptist Church, Kafanchan said: “my best prayer wish is that banditry in southern Kaduna come to a stop.”
While condemning the rising cases of kidnapping and banditry in some parts of Southern Kaduna, the lawmaker however assured the people that the security agencies were working diligently to address the issue of banditry frontally.
“We are working assiduously in collaboration with all security agencies and government towards ending banditry in Southern Kaduna, we will not rest until our people are able to sleep with their two eyes closed,” he said.
The lawmaker also warned youths against involvement in criminal activities, as those involved will be apprehended and made to face the wrath of the law.
Senator Katung further solicited prayers and support from the people, emphasizing that no leader can succeed without the backing of his citizens.
Earlier, the Baptist Conference President of Southern Kaduna, Dr. Donald Arak, commended the Senator for his people-oriented leadership, which prioritises long-term development over personal gains.
“We are happy with your kind of leadership, which focuses on lasting legacies rather than the outdated practice of distributing money without tangible projects,” Arak stated.
