A WOMAN of Lusaka West, Zambia, is the on the verge of losing her 14-year- old marriage for simply getting her husband’s phone and blocking his beloved side chick.
Despite having five children together, Lameck Chirwa, a 39-year -old bricklayer says he wants nothing more to do with Dina Namukwanya, aged 29, because she is insultive.
According to Zambia Observer, Lameck told the Matero Local Court that he and his wife have for some time been at loggerheads.
He stated that while he withstood all the insults she had been raining on him and his mother, he would not forgive her for getting his phone and blocking his girlfriend.
Lameck complained that his wife had on several occasions told him that he was not the father of their children because he had a malfunctioning manhood.
He added that his wife was also in the habit of going to his mother’s house to insult her.
Lameck stated that he had been tolerating his wife’s atrocities since 2007, but that she went too far when she blocked his side chick on his phone.
After finding out, he said he reported her to her aunt and later came to court.
However, Dinna said she loved her husband and did not want the court to dissolve their wedlock, adding that she blocked his girlfriend because he spent most his time with her.
Dina explained that her husband spent most of his time at his girlfriend’s place.
According to her, she set eyes on him only of recent when he served her with a court summon.
Dina admitted to insulting Lameck and his mother but blamed it on her short temper.
“Yes, I insult him and his mother, but that is because I am short tempered. I get frustrated at the fact that my husband goes to his girlfriend place for months, leaving me and the children to starve.
“He has disappeared from home for two months and just returned.
“He was always talking to a woman on phone at night. I got hurt and I blocked the lady’s number,” Dina said.
“He went ahead to sell our plot of land without my knowledge.
Testifying in the matter, Dina’s aunt said the couple are happy in their marriage, but that things change whenever Lameck has a girlfriend which makes her niece to be insultive.
“Otherwise they are good children. My son-in-law came to report my niece to me that she had blocked his girlfriend on his phone.
“He left in anger before I could take any step and the next day, I heard he had sued for divorce, something I think should not happen,” she said.
The magistrate, Harriet Mulenga adjourned the case.
