As part of continued efforts of the Federal Government to create employment and get rid of poverty among the youths and women in Nigeria, the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADFund), on Monday began a three-day training and empowerment for youths and women in Ekiti State.
The training was organised in collaboration with Amij Procurement Limited and facilitated by member, representing Ekiti South-West/Ikere/Ise/Orun federal constituency in the green chamber of the National Assembly, Honourable Rufus Adeniyi Ojuawo.
The sole aim of the training and empowerment workshop, according to NADFund was to train and empower the youths and women of Ekiti State with the skills and knowledge in fish production, processing and value addition to transform their livelihood, provision of sustainable income, foster entrepreneurship and to boost aquaculture in Ekiti State.
Chairman, Amij Procurement Limited, Honourable Tokunbo Ayekoti, while addressing the participants during the opening ceremony of the training which was held in Ikere Ekiti, on Monday, urged them to be attentive throughout the training and make judicious use of the knowledge acquired thereafter.
The facilitator of the training programme, Honourable Rufus Adeniyi Ojuawo, told the participants that they cannot afford not to make use of what they will learn during the training to improve the agricultural sector of the Ekiti State economy and Nigeria as a whole while pledging his continued support for them.
The participants, will at the end of the training, receive take-off grant, movable fish tanks, fingerlings, shovel, boot, hand and covered nets and medications for proper upbringing of the fingerlings.
The participants expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for its efforts targeted at improving livelihood and reducing poverty. A total of fifty-two youths and women benefitted from the programme.
