Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Niger State Command, Minna, has assured of its commitment towards the promotion of peace and security in parts of the country.
The Commandant of the NSCDC, Niger State Command, Adamu Abdullahi Kambara, gave the assurance while speaking through the Image Maker of the Command, Abubakar Mohammed Rabiu Muti DSC, in a Press statement issued and made available to Journalists on Tuesday in Minna, to commemorate the 2024 International Day For Peace.
The Commandant, who expressed the command’s commitment to promoting peace and security not only in Niger but also within Nigeria as a whole, noted that no meaningful development would be recorded in an atmosphere riddled with rancor.
The 2024 International Peace Day, themed: “Cultivating a Culture of Peace” resonates deeply with our Organisation’s values and mission”, emphasized that the world is plagued by conflict, inequality, and discrimination, stressing that “we must strive to build a culture of peace that transcends borders, ethnicities, and an ideology, adding that peace is not merely the absence of conflict but a dynamic.
“There is a need for a participatory process that encourages dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation.
“As we reflect on the significance of this day. I urge all Nigerlites and Nigerians to embrace the values of respect, tolerance, and solidarity.
“Let us work together to create a society where differences are celebrated, and conflicts are resolved through peaceful means.”
The state Commandant enumerated respect for life, human rights, and fundamental freedoms, promotion of non-violence through education, dialogue, and cooperation, commitment to peaceful settlement of conflicts, adherence to freedom, justice, tolerance, solidarity, and cooperation, as well as pluralism, among others.
Commandant Abdullahi Kambara, while extending his warmth appreciation to the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, for his unwavering support and guidance in piloting the leadership of the command, stated that his leadership has been instrumental in promoting peace and security across the country.

Hon.Mohammed Umaru Bago, for his continuous support to the NSCDC in Niger State, said that his commitment to collaborative efforts with security agencies has been invaluable in tackling security challenges across the state.
Commandant Adamu Kambara reminded the general public that the Corps has a peace and conflict resolution unit that has so far resolved almost no fewer than about over 100 cases ranging from land disputes, farmer/herders disputes, communal disputes, buyer, seller disputes, borrower/ lender disputes, landlords/landlady and tenants disputes and many more.
“He pointed out that to achieve peace, it requires collective efforts and commitment.
“The State Commandant, NSCDC, thereby called on all stakeholders to join hands in promoting a culture of peace that benefits humanity.”
Meanwhile, some of the highlights of the celebration include a Lecture that was delivered on Monday, September 23, 2024, as part of the lineup of the program; there was also a road walk and planting of trees which was done on Tuesday.
