Pope Leo XIV has called on world leaders to act with responsibility and reason as the conflict between Iran and Israel grows increasingly volatile.
In a message shared on his official X account, the head of the Catholic Church urged nations to reject nuclear threats and pursue peace through dialogue and justice.
“The situation in Iran and Israel has deteriorated drastically,” the Pope noted in his statement posted Saturday.
He stressed that a safer world must be built on “mutual respect and sincere dialogue,” and founded on the principles of justice, fraternity, and the common good.
“No one should ever threaten another’s existence,” Pope Leo wrote, highlighting the moral imperative for all countries to promote reconciliation and uphold the dignity and security of every human being.
The Vatican said it is closely monitoring the crisis and remains committed to supporting diplomatic efforts.
The Pope’s appeal has drawn widespread attention, amassing over 575,000 views within hours and sparking global conversations about peace and nuclear disarmament.
