The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Sokoto State Council has extended its heartfelt condolences to the Secretary to the Sokoto State Government (SSG), Alhaji Muhammad Bello Sifawa, over the loss of his daughter, three grandchildren, and a house help in a devastating fire outbreak.
The unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of Monday at their residence.
The Union described the incident as an act of God, while acknowledging its deeply painful and heartbreaking impact on the immediate family and the entire people of Sokoto State.
In its message of condolence signed by Usman Mohammed Benji and Muhammad Nasir Bello, the chairman and secretary of the council respectively, the council sympathised with the SSG and the bereaved husband, Alhaji Muhammadu Yusuf Bello, Permanent Secretary at the Sokoto State Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, as well as the extended family.

The Union also conveyed its sympathy to His Excellency Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko (Sarkin Yamman Sokoto); and the entire people of Sokoto State over this irreplaceable loss.
The NUJ prayed for Allah’s mercy on the departed souls and for the Almighty to grant the bereaved family the strength and fortitude to bear this immense tragedy.
The victims of the fire, which broke out around 3:00 am, include Rabi’atu Bello Sifawa, the daughter of the SSG; her three children, Fatimatu Bello Yusuf, Maryam Bello Yusuf, and Abubakar Sadik Bello Yusuf; as well as the house help, Aishatu Muhammad.
The remains of the five deceased individuals have been laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
