The Chairmen’s Forum of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), which convened in Kaduna State on Sunday, February 4, 2024, elected Abdulsalam Abdul Quadri, the chairman of Oyo State NYCN, as its chairman. Additionally, it ratified a new steering committee for the forum following the expiration of the former leadership’s tenure.

Addressing a press conference in Kaduna on Monday, the newly elected chairman of the forum, Abdulsalam Abdul Quadri, stated that the new leadership truly represents the interests of Nigerian youths. He announced that the chairmen’s forum, comprising all the chairmen of the 36 state chapters, unanimously elected and ratified the constitution of a new leadership as follows: Comrade AbdulSalam Abdul Quadri, the State Chairman for Oyo, is the new Chairman of Chairmen; Prince Gara Nongha, the Taraba state chairman, is the new Deputy Chairman of Chairmen for Northern Nigeria. Others include Comrade Godwin Emeji, the Ebonyi State chairman, as the new Deputy Chairman of the Committee of Chairmen for Southern Nigeria, and Comrade Nathaniel Bagudu, the Kaduna State chairman, as the new secretary. Comrade Nasir Alli, the Kwara State Chairman, serves as the new Treasurer; Comrade Nwisabri Bani, the Rivers State Chairman, is the new PRO; and finally, Comrade Usman Ogohi, the Kogi State Chairman, assumes the role of the new Welfare Secretary.

In addition, the Chairmen’s Forum reiterated its vote of confidence in the leadership of the national president, Ambassador Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, acknowledging him as the only elected and recognised president representing the interests of Nigeria’s young people.

The forum expressed solidarity with the Grand Commander of the Nigerian Youth (GCNY) and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The youth called on Mr President to expedite action and strengthen the nation’s security architecture, pledging to continue providing intelligence support to create an enabling environment for economic growth.

Furthermore, the Chairmen’s Forum urged the National Executive Council to promptly implement the resolutions formulated at its recently concluded emergency meeting of the National Management Committee, which were agreed upon by various stakeholders across the country.

The youth leadership of the country remains committed to advocating for the rights of the youth and providing the necessary platforms for young people to voice their concerns and aspirations.
