A 17-year-old boy, Jamiu Adebayo, has been arrested by operatives of the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly raping his neighbor’s eight-year-old daughter in the Aregbe area of Abeokuta.
According to the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the suspect lured the young girl into his parents’ sitting room, where he allegedly defiled her.
The victim’s mother, identified as Olabode, reported that she was away when neighbors informed her that her daughter was bleeding from her private parts.
Initially, the victim lied about the cause of the injury, claiming it was due to a stick, after being instructed to do so by the suspect. However, the truth was later revealed, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
The police have taken the suspect into custody and are conducting a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
A medical examination has also been arranged for the victim.
“The suspect took her (the survivor) to their bathroom to clean the blood, then instructed her to change into another pair of underwear.
“He also persuaded her to lie, claiming that a stick had caused the injury to her private parts.
“Detectives swiftly sprang into action and apprehended the suspect.
“A medical form has been issued to the victim and her mother for examination and reporting. Preliminary investigations are currently underway,” she stated.
