The Onikoyi of Ikoyi-Ekiti in Ikole Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Oba Moses Akinwande Ogundana, has commiserated with the families of traditional rulers who were killed by the suspected Fulani herdsmen on Oke Ako-Ipao road on Monday.

The traditional rulers are the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba Babatunde Ogunsakin, in Ikole Local Government Area and the Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Olusola, in Oye Local Government Area of the state.

In a condolence message he personally signed, Oba Ogundana said: “It is with a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences to the families and communities mourning the loss of their traditional rulers. Their reigns were marked by wisdom, compassion and dedication to the well-being of their people.
Their absence will be deeply felt and their legacies will endure as guiding lights for generations to come.

“As we grieve their passing, we must also address the pressing issue of security in Ekiti State. The recent rise in violence and the proliferation of gunmen pose a grave threat to the safety and stability of our communities. In light of these challenges, I urge the government to equip and support the Amotekun Security Corps in their efforts to safeguard the lives and property of the people and make them to man the flash points across the state.

“By arming the Amotekun Security Corps and providing them with the necessary resources and training, we can empower local authorities to effectively combat criminal elements and restore peace and order to our neighbourhoods.”

Oba Ogundana added that investing in community policing initiatives and fostering collaboration between law enforcement agencies and local communities will be instrumental in addressing the root causes of insecurity and fostering a safer environment for all.

“In this time of mourning and uncertainty, let us come together as a community to honour the memory of our late monarchs and reaffirm our commitment to building a more secure and prosperous future for Ekiti State.
