Nationnewslead reports that An advocacy group, Center for Transparency in Governance (CTG) has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to investigate the Chairman of Oriade local government in Osun State, Mr Olubunmi Ezekiel Obeisun over alleged misappropriation of the council’s fund.

The civil society organisation set up with the aim of fighting corruption in all forms, alleged Obeisun of misappropriating One Hundred and Ninety-three Million Naira(#193,000,000) public fund.

This was contained in a petition written to the anti-graft agency on the 5th November, 2020 signed by the Director of Mobilization of the group Comrade Micheal James and acknowledged by the Zonal Office of the EFCC in Ibadan on 6th November, 2020.

The Council boss was alleged to be involved in illegal contracting of road grading without approvals, diversion of funds, non-remittance of funds into govenrment account, illegal service of loans with IGR of local government, fraud on projects and programmes, non-rendering of statement of income and expenditure to the appropriate quarters, diversion of public office holders allowances, illegal procurement of vehicles and breach of the code of conduct, among others.

The petition partly read, “To our dismay, all these public funds were siphoned into the private account of the Council Chairman, Mr. Olubunmi Ezekiel. Obeisun and there should be forensic audit of the account of the locid government for Period of 2018 to November, 2020.

 

“The Council boss Mr. Oluwabunmi Obeisun engaged in non transparency and disclosure to the Council, illegal contracting of road crading without approvals, diversion of funds and non remittance of income into government accounts, illegal service of loans with Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the local government, fraud on projects and programms, non rendering of statement of income and expenditure, diversion of public office holders allowances, illegal procurement of vehicles and breach of the code of candoct. Evidence attached an Appendix 1.118 as exhibit 12&3 respectively.

“We will like the anti-graft body to invite some of the Councilors including: Hon Ademikore Ibukun Ojo, Hon. Ogundiran Damilare, Hon Olorunfemi Solomon and Hon Ajimotokin Alagbole and the Council Managers, Director of Finance, Director of Works, and leader of the Legislative Arm of the local government, Hon. Deji Olomolatan for period of 2018 November 2020 for more clarifications. Evidence attached as exhibit Lawmakers Letter to the Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly.”

 

When contacted, the Council Chairman asked our reporter to come to his office with all the evidence against him if he’s sure the allegations are true.

He said, “Where are you? Come to my office with your full evidence of you know the allegations are true.”

When told by our reporter that the allegations is by a group, Obeisun said, “why are you asking me questions when you’re not the one accusing me? Nonsense.” He cut the call.
