The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has issued a strong warning to motorists, urging them to desist from offering bribes to officers during patrol operations.

Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed emphasized that all fines must be paid through official bank channels and not handed over to any FRSC personnel.

In a statement signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Assistant Corps Marshal Olusegun Ogungbemide, and issued on Wednesday, Mohammed reiterated that payments must be made into the Treasury Single Account (TSA).

“Any motorist found attempting to bribe FRSC personnel will be arrested and prosecuted in line with extant provisions in the Corps’ Establishment Act (2007),” the Corps Marshal stated.

He added that the Corps maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy on bribery and corruption, stressing that it will not condone any act that undermines its ethics and procedures.

Mohammed expressed concern over increasing attempts by road users to compromise officials with cash or gifts, warning that such practices would attract legal consequences.

“All fines generated through patrol operations are paid into the Treasury Single Account, not into the pockets of individuals,” he warned.

He further cautioned FRSC personnel against soliciting or accepting bribes and encouraged members of the public to report any misconduct.

Reports, according to the Corps, can be submitted via email at [email protected], the FRSC Mobile App, or through the Flag-It anti-corruption app.

Complaints can also be filed through their official social media platforms including Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube.

Mohammed praised Nigerians who have reported misconduct without resorting to violence and reiterated the agency’s commitment to enforcing traffic laws with transparency and professionalism.
