The Presidency has distanced itself from the ongoing promotion of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for the 2027 elections following the appearance of campaign billboards across several cities, including Abuja and Kano.
These billboards, featuring images of the President and his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, have raised concerns about premature campaigning.

In response, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, issued a statement on Sunday expressing the Presidency’s disapproval of the materials.

The statement, titled ‘Presidency Disclaims 2027 Campaign Billboards Nationwide,’ emphasised that the electoral laws governing Nigeria prohibit any form of premature campaign for the upcoming elections.
It clarified that neither President Tinubu nor Vice President Shettima had authorized or endorsed any political campaigns for 2027.
The Presidency called on those behind the campaign materials to cease their actions immediately to avoid undermining the integrity of the electoral process.
Premature campaigning could give undue advantage to certain candidates and create an imbalance in the political landscape.
“We urgently call on individuals and groups funding this 2027 political campaign through the ongoing deployment of materials on billboards nationwide to cease immediately,” the statement said.
The Presidency reaffirmed that President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima are focused on fulfilling their current mandate of governance, prioritizing national development over future political ambitions.
