The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), through its Directorate of State (DOS), has urged Ndigbo and Biafrans to return home for the Christmas season.
In a statement issued by IPOB’s media and publicity secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, the group emphasized its dedication to addressing insecurity in the South East region while promoting peace and development.
He assured that their Eastern Security Network (ESN) operatives will maintain safety and a peaceful atmosphere during the festivities.
IPOB portrayed Alaigbo as a traditionally peaceful area, urging Igbos to actively preserve harmony, which it described as essential for the region’s economic progress.
“We need peace to thrive as a strategic economic hub in Africa. Every Igbo man and woman must work towards peace and security in Alaigbo,” the statement read.
The group reiterated its determination to protect investments in the South East, encouraging Igbos to bring their investments home to spur development and provide job opportunities for local youth.

It also called for an end to criminal activities, warning offenders to stay away, especially during the Christmas season. According to IPOB, ESN operatives and IPOB volunteers are working tirelessly to make the region an unwelcoming environment for criminal elements.
The group accused the Nigerian government of worsening insecurity in the South East through militarization and alleged subjugation.
It also criticized the proliferation of military and police checkpoints in the region, describing them as avenues for extortion, intimidation, and harassment of travelers. “We call for the dismantling of all indiscriminate and illegal military, police, and other checkpoints in the South East,” the statement declared.
IPOB highlighted the role of its ESN operatives in patrolling Biafran bushes and forests to prevent criminal elements from using them as hideouts.
The group also encouraged residents to report suspicious activities through its published security contact numbers.
The statement concluded with a call to stakeholders to prioritize peace and development in Alaigbo, underscoring IPOB’s commitment to protecting lives, property, and investments.
