Awotoye, who is also a former president of the club, said the significance of the programme was to first acquaint the students through the seminar saying “The essence of the seminar is to know some vocations they can do before they gain admission into higher institutions.
“After their May/June WASSCE exams, they will have some time to be at home doing nothing, so those periods, we want them to learn something and Rotary Club of lyaganku-Ibadan is doing this for them to sensitise them with all those vocations and at the end of the seminar, we are going to identify about 20 from 50 selected students that are exceptional in this seminar to train them further in the vocations of their choice to support their future finances.”
In her remarks, the resource person for the training, Rev. Sr. Francisca Obosherinor from Religious Sisters of Charity said they were happy to partner with the Rotary Club to train the secondary school students in vocational services.
She said the seminar aims to equip the students with practical skills and knowledge in various vocational areas, preparing them for future careers and entrepreneurship opportunities.
She said, “This is an opportunity for the secondary school leavers to learn one thing or the other before gaining admission to be self-sufficient.”
Also, the club has doled out N1 million to 10 people living with disabilities as part of its vocational service projects to the community.
