Students of the Osun State College of Technology (OSCOTECH) are facing heightened insecurity following a prolonged communal clash in the area. The conflict, though not directly involving the student community, has created an atmosphere of fear and tension that threatens academic activities and the well-being of students.

Comrade Ajibade Kehinde Daniel, President of the Students’ Union Government, has called on the Osun State Government and security agencies to intervene urgently and restore peace.
“As young Nigerians striving for a brighter future through education, we should not have to live in fear of violence,” Ajibade stated. “The safety of students must be prioritized, and the current state of insecurity demands swift and decisive action from the government and security agencies.”
While acknowledging the proactive efforts of the school management and the Students’ Union in securing the campus, Ajibade expressed concern for students living off-campus, many of whom now feel unsafe in their residences. Some students have reportedly sought refuge within the school premises as a precautionary measure.
“This is a Save Our Soul (SOS) message to the Osun State Government, security agencies, and all concerned stakeholders: Act now before the situation spirals further,” Ajibade emphasized.
He urged the government to de-escalate the crisis, deploy adequate security personnel, and ensure the safety of students and residents in Esa-Oke.
“The essence of education is to build a future, but insecurity threatens that very foundation. We plead for urgent action before casualties are recorded. May we never be victims of negative circumstances,” Ajibade concluded.
The situation remains tense as students and residents await immediate government intervention to restore calm and protect lives.
