Niger State Police Command has responded to a report in some online media that six persons lost their lives during the violent protest in Tafa/Suleja area of Niger State on Thursday, adding that the said report was untrue.

It stated this late in the evening on Thursday in a Press statement issued and made available by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, stressing that the Command, therefore, reemphasized as earlier stated that violent miscreants stormed the Tafa Local Government Council Secretariat, looted, vandalized and partly set the building ablaze, vehicles were damaged and burnt, while security agencies responded, made arrest and dispersed the hoodlums.

According to Abiodun, During this process, there was no loss of life, and there was no report of such as protesters were dispersed with the use of minimum force, highlighting however, that some miscreants were mildly injured during stampede and most of them were taken to different nearby medical facilities for treatment.

The statement said that normalcy was restored in the area, while monitoring continues as security has been beefed up in the areas to forestall breakdown of law and order.
