The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Sokoto State on Saturday conducted its state congress, where no fewer than 2,567 delegates re-elected Bello Aliyu Goronyo as the party chairman.
At the congress held at the party secretariat in the state, the party also elected Abubakar Zaki Bashire as Secretary, Yahaya Ibrahim as Treasurer, Abdulrahaman Abubakar as Legal Adviser, and re-elected Hassan Sahabi Sanyinawal as the party’s Publicity Secretary.

The congress, witnessed by a delegation from the national headquarters of the party, led by Hon. Mukhtar Ahmad Lugga, also elected 35 others to various positions to pilot the affairs of the state chapter of the PDP for the next four years.
Speaking while congratulating the new state executives, the leader of the party in the state, Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, described the process leading to their election as God’s will.
“Earlier today, I had the privilege of leading the delegates from Tambuwal Local Government to the Sokoto State PDP Congress. It was a momentous occasion as we witnessed Hon. Muhammad Bello Aliyu re-emerge as the State Chairman through a successful consensus process.
